VOLUNTÁRIO

NA MISSÃO

The Bible talks a lot about the importance of loving and helping others. When Jesus preached to his disciples in Matthew 25:35, he said that when we go to the Father, we should sit at the table next to Him. This is because we fed Him when He was hungry, clothed Him when He was cold, and other things.

This is exactly what volunteer work represents. By helping others, we are fulfilling the second commandment. There are so many people who need help and care, so if God gave you better conditions, it was not to keep everything for yourself.

In the world, we know that there are many needy communities and some social work that can help these people. Don't think that you need to have the perfect conditions for this, because the opportunity may never arise. After all, there is no perfect moment; all you need is a willing heart.

In Matthew 25:34-36, Jesus declares that every time we help someone who was volunteering, we are being helped.

Today, we accept volunteers from various countries who stay with us for a minimum of three months. During this time, AMB provides housing, transportation to work, two meals plus an afternoon coffee in exchange for a fixed monthly fee to cover expenses.

Before starting volunteering, each candidate receives a list of AMB projects and their areas of work, and can then choose which project they would like to help with. Volunteering means time for active personal learning. It is not just about learning the language of the country, but also about training one’s own social behavior, one’s willingness to integrate, to put oneself in the shoes of other cultures and people and to help them.

For volunteers, service should be understood in the literal sense: they serve those who need help and consciously dedicate a part of their life to serving God. However, this does not mean total self-sacrifice. Both the projects in question and the volunteer benefit from the mission, as they can gain valuable experience for their lives.

Volunteering is generally only possible for people aged 18 and over!
